ANDAMAN PARTNERS was a cosponsor of the South African National Day Reception in Shanghai on 30 May 2025.
ANDAMAN PARTNERS Co-Founders Kobus van der Wath and Rachel Wu attended Mining Indaba 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa on 3-6 February.
At the event, Kobus was interviewed by Gerard Peter, Mining Review Africa Editor-in-Chief. In the interview, Kobus provided a brief overview of ANDAMAN PARTNERS, its three business units, and how mining fits into the company’s service offering. Kobus stated that ANDAMAN PARTNERS is a global cross-border business solutions company that helps businesses expand internationally and scale. ANDAMAN PARTNERS, he said, “is about integrity, creating trust and impact; that’s the ethos of the company.”
Kobus explained that mining is extremely relevant to ANDAMAN PARTNERS’ advisory business, which helps companies in Africa tap into capital and investment from high-growth markets in Asia, and to its trade business, which helps mining companies place their offtake into dynamic markets.
In addition, Kobus outlined the importance of mining for Africa and the need for African mining companies to take a comprehensive view of Asia and its role and importance in the global mining sector. Markets such as China, he stated, play a crucial and comprehensive role in almost all areas of resources and mining. What happens if China’s structural aspects change? That’s where ANDAMAN PARTNERS come in to assess that.
China is also a big supply chain partner. If you travel around Asia and China, Kobus stated, the focus on Africa is real, and he hoped Africa could understand the full opportunity. Africa needs to take a comprehensive view of Asia and find a common angle where it could benefit it to tap into the capital, supply or markets from Asia.
