Analysis by ANDAMAN PARTNERS Co-Founder Rachel Wu on changing patterns in global supply chains.
ANDAMAN PARTNERS Co-Founders Kobus Van Der Wath and Rachel Wu attended Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa, on 3-6 February 2025.
Indaba 2025 again attracted delegates from around the world — showing the continued interest and commitment to mining on the continent. Indeed, it was a great week with many new connections, conversations, insights and impressions.
Mining is a key industry for ANDAMAN PARTNERS and Mining Indaba is an important part of the annual calendar as we work with mining clients to support their projects and operations worldwide. Our mining industry solutions focus on cross-border capital advisory, international inbound supply chain optimization, and mine/process offtake management & marketing.
Ahead of the opening day of Mining Indaba, Kobus and Rachel attended several pre-Indaba meetings and events. On Sunday, 2 February, Kobus and Rachel attended a roundtable discussion over breakfast on China/Asia’s Role in Global Mining — Strategic Imperatives for Mining Companies. Later in the day, they attended two events that ANDAMAN PARTNERS co-sponsored: the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG) pre-Indaba sundowner and the Mining Indaba Big Sunday Night Party. Later, Kobus and Rachel attended the annual Paydirt Media Pty Ltd pre-Indaba dinner.
During Mining Indaba, Kobus and Rachel had four very active days — filled with keynotes, panels and meetings. Rachel was interviewed by Mining Review Africa on ANDAMAN PARTNERS’ mining solutions, how Asia’s role has changed in the overall global supply chain and how international manufacturing capability and bases are shifting. Kobus was interviewed by Mining Weekly on how ANDAMAN PARTNERS operates, the unique value provided to clients via the three business units — Investment, Advisory and Trade — and the experience of attending this year’s Mining Indaba and the current outlook for the mining industry and global commodity markets.
A productive week — see you at Mining Indaba 2026!
